Georgetown Water Department Advises of Possible Water Discoloration Around West and Andover Streets This Week

Please be advised that customers in the area of West and Andover Streets may experience possible water discoloration this week as the Water Department begins trial work for the West Street Water Plant’s upcoming filter refurbishment project. While trials begin this week, work is not expected to start until December.

Running a cold water tap should clear the issue. For discoloration that persists for more than three hours, please call the water office at 978-352-5750. 

Residents who notice discolored water should avoid doing laundry until the water runs clear.

Georgetown Water Congratulates Mark Leonard on 22 Years of Service to Department

Director Marlene Ladderbush and the Georgetown Water Department wish to congratulate Mark Leonard on his 22nd work anniversary.

Leonard joined the Water Department as a laborer on Oct. 7, 2000. During his time with Georgetown Water, he has accepted increasing responsibilities, and completed numerous, intensive exams to become a T2 D2 Operator. He is the Department’s longest-tenured employee.

“For 22 years, Mark has been an asset to the Department,” Director Ladderbush said. “He consistently works to advance his knowledge in the water field and he is always willing to lend a helping hand. We are lucky to have him.”

 

Georgetown Water Department Provides Update on Scheduled Infrastructure Repair on Andover Street

Please be advised that initial prep work for this week’s scheduled infrastructure repair on Andover Street will be conducted on Wednesday, Aug. 10. If all goes according to plan, customers in the area will only experience a temporary disruption of water service on Thursday, Aug. 11, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Residents and motorists are asked to avoid the area of Andover Street on Wednesday and Thursday if possible.

Scheduled Infrastructure Repair on Andover Street Next Week

Please be advised that there is a scheduled infrastructure repair on Andover Street Wednesday, Aug. 10 and Thursday, Aug. 11. Customers in the area may experience a temporary disruption of water service between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. on those days.

Customers also may notice water discoloration following the repair. It should clear after a short time, but residents can expedite the process by running water from a high-volume faucet at the highest point in their home — such as a bathtub — until water runs clear.
