SMART IRRIGATION CONTROLLER

  • What is a Smart Irrigation Controller? A smart irrigation controller, which acts like a thermostat for your sprinkler system telling it when to turn on and off, uses local weather and landscape conditions to tailor watering schedules to actual conditions on the site. Instead of irrigating using a controller with a clock and a preset schedule, smart irrigation controllers allow watering schedules to better match water needs. With proper installation, programming, and maintenance, homeowners can use smart irrigation controllers instead of standard clock-timer controllers on their existing systems, and no longer worry about wasted water.
  • This program offers rebates for Georgetown Water Department residential customers who install a qualified smart irrigation controller. New controller must be installed on fully operational, in-ground irrigation system with a minimum of four valves/zones. There is a limit of one weather based irrigation controller rebate per customer. Customers of GWD are eligible for rebates subject to the availability of funds from GWD. GWD reserves the right to change any portion of this program or end this program at any time without notice.
  • Please see Appendix I for a full list of qualifying smart irrigation controllers.
