The Georgetown Water Department will be conducting two Lead and Copper sampling periods this year due to the addition of a new ground water supply.

This is a mandated requirement by MA DEP and EPA to ensure water quality.

Lead and copper in drinking water is primarily from materials and components associated with service lines and home plumbing. Georgetown Water Dept. is responsible for providing high quality drinking water, but cannot control the variety of materials used in home plumbing components. When your water has been sitting for several hours, you can minimize the potential for lead and copper exposure by flushing your cold water tap for 30 seconds to 2 minutes before using water for drinking or cooking.

We will be conducting sampling June and December 2020 instead of our usual August sampling period.  Residents that are normally on the August sampling list will be receiving door hanger information about this year’s schedule.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
